lyrics in music

lyrics are really interesting part of the song. ask Drew Barrymore of Music and Lyrics. hehehe! i have to admit melody ang unang nagcacatch ng attention ko sa isang song, but when i really really like the artist/melody, i take time to listen and digest (naks) the lyrics...my friend maila is a huge fan of Indigo Girls. 2 songs lang yata alam ko from them (power of two and Galileo). she made me listen to some of their songs and surprisingly, i liked them, kahit na nagno-nose bleed ako sa lalim ng words nila.
on our way to Baguio 2 weeks ago, habang binabaybay namin ang kahabaan ng Tarlac ay nakikinig kami sa 3 albums ng Imago at Indigo Girls. so malamang dahil wala kaming ibang gagawin, kaya nagnilay nilay na lang kami sa bawat words ng song.so here are some of their "interesting" lyrics

"Oh, you precious kid I have a motion just for you.A warrior, barefoot and dancing With tears of pain and beauty All of this is true for you" -Keeper of my Heart (Indigo Girls)

"I wanted everything to feed me. About as full as I got was of myself. And the upper echalons of mediocrityafter the battle and we're still around. Everything once up in the air has settled down. Sweep the ashes let the silence find us. A moment of peace is worth every war behind us.You and me of the 10,000 wars." -You and Me of the 10,000 Wars (Indigo Girls)

"Cause last night he got a visit from the Ghost of Corporate FutureThe ghost said, "Take off both your shoesWhatever chances you get Especially when they're wet." -Ghost of the Corporate Future (Regina Spektor)

"While you occupy me I command my dreams each dayTo bring you in me even thinly as the morning chases you
away. I half believe if I just picture us we will come true. Wishful thinking or my dreams sinking half depends on you "
-You've Got to Show (Indigo Girls) -this song is really special for me kasi nakakakilig talaga yung buong song

"And I don't know How you show Such gentle disregard. For the ugly in me, That I see That for so long, I took so hard. And I truly believe That you see the best in me. I'm in love We all love, And that thought Sets me free" -Free In You (Indigo Girls)
"We all have minced our words Even exchanged euphemisms Then we say we must go for truth We have an ear for envy Never a tongue for praise Can't we have it otherwise " -Otherwise (Imago)

"After all that we've been through I could not see giving up Despite the picture of our coffee growing colder in the cups" -I Believe in Love (Indigo Girls)

"I'm gonna rack my mind one last time until I cannot thinkI'm gonna dip into your memory and take a good stiff drinkAnd when I'm drunk on the last drop of sadness about how
we went wrongI'm gonna play this songMake some coffee black and strongGive thanks for healing timeAnd finally make up my mind"
- Last Tears (Indigo Girls)

"...But this poverty is our greatest gift The weightlessness of us as things around begin to shift
Remember everything I told you, keep it in your heart like a stone And when the winds have blown things round and back again What was once your pain will be your home Everything in its own time Everything in its own time " - Everything in Its Own Time (Indigo Girls)

best speeches

since tapos na ang award season sa states, here are some memorable acceptance speeches that tops my head this time...sorry am at work, slow ang utak ko. hehehe

Hugh Laurie-Golden Globe Best Actor in a Series
"I'm speechless.I’m literally without a speech. It seems odd to me that in the weeks leading up to this event, when people are falling over themselves to send you free shoes and free cufflinks and free colonic irrigations for two, nobody offers you a free acceptance speech. It just seems to me to be a gap in the market. I would love to be able to pull out a speech by Dolce & Gabbana."
Julia Roberts, Best Actress, 2000 Academy Awards

[about the 45-second limit on acceptance speeches]" I'm so happy, thank you. A girl's got to have her moment. Everybody tries to get me to shut up. It didn't work with my parents and it didn't work now."
Chandra Wilson-SAG Awards Best Actress in a Series

"...And last but not least, just to be able to take this thing home to my girls, in particular, and hold it in front of them and say, “Look, with this skin and this nose, and this height, and these arms,” you know, “I’m here!”
Forrest Whittaker-Academy Awards Best Actor

"When I was a kid, the only way that I saw movies was from the backseat of my family's car. At the drive-in. And, it wasn't my reality to think I would be acting in movies, so receiving this honor tonight tells me that it's possible. It is possible for a kid from east Texas, raised in South Central L.A. in Carson, who believes in his dreams, commits himself to them with his heart, to touch them, and to have them happen."
Jennifer Hudson-Academy Awards Best Supporting Actress

"...This is for my Grand Mother who always had the talent and passion for acting but never had a chance.
Jennifer Hudson-Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress

"Thank you! You have no idea what this will do to my career and my confidence"
