reminiscing...

During the weekend I had a chance to exchange text messages with my college buddies, Emilie and Cathy… we decided to meet up for late night dinner and gimmick next next week. I got excited coz we’re planning to include everybody from our batch. I mean there’s only less than 50 people in our Department and it’ll be impossible not to know each other. In our batch its very interesting. There were more boys than girls and most of them are married already. But I miss them… I miss my college days

Cathy - she’s my best friend during college. Always late, slow as turtle but is the best cook ever. I remember during our internship, she was 2 hour late but our CI forgave her coz she brought food for everyone. Hehehe! She would always remind me if im spending too much and going out too much (hoy Michelle gagala ka nanaman may exam tayo bukas!). she’s always late that up to our graduation she came in late. After graduation she took the February boards and passed. Then she studied nursing and now waiting for the results of the boards.

Emilie – she’s my classmate from 1st to 5th year. Although we had our differences coz some people think I’m “bossing” her around, we still hung around. She calls me Angel since our zoology teacher told the class I look like Angel Aquino. We use to make fun of her accent but she’ll just laugh with us (mean girls kami eh. Hehehe!). she’s now working as a company nurse in a construction company.

Melissa – our transferee from Cavite. She shifted from PT to RT since she doesn’t want to take the boards afterwards (could have done that also. Hehehe!) hmm…. How can I forget the day I almost curse her after finding out what happened to her and the stupid curly haired guy from higher batch. But were good now. She learned her lesson and now engaged to her RT boyfriend in Dubai.

Katrina – my kambal. We’re born the same day/year and almost same time. With her and cathy we complete the Charlie’s Angels. I love Katrina, how her family welcomes us each time we visit her place, si mommy and daddy nya ipagluluto pa kami. Her 2 brothers na laging kontrabida sa buhay namin pero pinagnanasaan naman namin. Hahaha! Its just sad coz she left us while we were in 3rd year and transferred to another school. She graduated BSN and like Cathy she’s also waiting for the result of the boards.

Reigh – ang Ogie ng buhay ko. After transferring to Tondo he’s my constant companion (with value meal number 6 at mcdonalds. Hehehe) they named him Ogie coz he’s short and is always seen with Michelle (yeah, I was called Michelle back then. Hehehe!) he has a huge crush on one of our teachers (mum jobe) and everytime she pass by he’ll sing don’t know what to do, don’t know what to say.

Kuya Luis and Kuya Ramil – our 2 kuyas and daddy. I don’t have that much story about them since most of the time they talk about their kids and their kabit. hahaha

Edward - Mr Walking Encyclopedia.

our Boy Band - Ace, Romel, Ralph, and the fat guy (man i forgot his name. hahaha!)

Tarantino to visit the Philippines next month

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) will be hitting Philippine shores in August to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during special ceremonies in the 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival. Tarantino will be receiving the distinction for his iconic contributions to world cinema and continued support to the proliferation and promotion of Asian and independent films.

Tarantino's love for Asian films has inspired him to make use of various cinematic styles from films of the region such as wire kung-fu scenes, sword fights and stylized action scenes in his own movies. His admiration for Asian cinema has made him one of its most significant advocates; the release of Zhang Yimou's Hero and Wong Kar Wai's Chungking Express in the United States were made possible by Tarantino.

Renowned for cult favorites like Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, Tarantino has won accolades and citations from various groups, including an Oscar nomination for his direction of the critically acclaimed film Pulp Fiction. In 2004, he was selected to be the head of the jury of the Cannes Film Festival.

Catch renowned director Quentin Tarantino as he graces the Festival this August. The Cinemanila International Film Festival, now on its 9th year, will have its official run from 8 to 19 August 2007. It will showcase the best of local and foreign cinema, including recent winners from the Berlin and Cannes film festivals. A special ASEAN Night celebrating the works of the region's best filmmakers will open the event on 8 August.

Cinemanila will also be having a special Focus on the films of Bollywood (10 August), South Africa (11 August), and Turkey (12 August). Everyone is invited to these screenings and to the seminars and workshops. These include Master Classes in Directing (10-11 August) and Scriptwriting (12-13 August), a seminar on the Importance of Film Archiving in the Philippines (14 August), and a seminar on Indie Filmmaking (15-16 August).

The CIFF is organized jointly by the Independent Cinema Association of the Philippines (ICAP), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), and a specially commissioned inter-agency committee.

waiting...waiting...still waiting

Since I have the intention of relocating, I started by looking for jobs outside metro manila. First stop… Clark (am not sure if I wanna say the name of the company), anyway, so I tagged along some officemate and an ex officemate to go to Clark and apply. We’re targeting a non-agent position, particularly Quality and Communications Analyst. We went straight from shift, we arrived there around 3pm. We immediately sensed the heat and local atmosphere (ang init at walang taxi). After filling out our application form, we’re asked to wait for the initial interview. After an hour and a half, we’re called one by one for interview. Afterwards they endorsed us for the exam. Then asked us to wait. Since we’re all starving and tired we asked for permission to eat first then just go back, they allowed us 20-30mins, we went back after 20mins. Since they asked us to comeback immediately, we expect that the results are there already, but rather they had us waiting for more than 2 hours before they called us again… one by one!!!
We ended at around 12:30 in the morning because of their system (which sucks!). walang kaayusan. By the end of our shift wala na kaming gana sa job offer nila. And to top it all, we didn’t get the job that we want. They said they were just informed that the QA and CA positions are all filled. I mean what the heck?! We waited for 6-7 hours for nothing. Well not really nothing, they offered us an SME position, but either way that’s not what we applied for. Had they informed us earlier that there are no more Analyst position, we wouldn’t have waited that long. Its one holiday wasted for us.
When we talked to our former officemates who are now employed there, they said that they probably opted for internally hired Analyst due to some complaints they got from employees. Hay naku! I think we’re delaying our relocation. Nawalan talaga ako ng gana sa company na yun.
